No global warming since 1998?

While ‘global warming’ has largely been replaced by ‘climate change’ as the descriptor of the biggest ever threat to humanity, we are all being led to believe that the planet is getting hotter. That’s not the case, at least for the last 11 years, according to a BBC article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8299079.stm, which states that 1998 was the hottest year on record and quotes credible sources who say that we may be in a period of cooling worldwide temperatures that could last another 10-20 years. Most worrying of all, according to the article, climate models failed to predict the absence of warming over the last 10 years. So how much can we rely on them for the next 20 or 30 years and beyond?
